Results, Recalls & Reminders Policy

At Alma Street Medical, we follow Queensland Health and Australian Medical Association (AMA) guidelines
to ensure you receive timely and appropriate follow-up for your test results.

Understanding Your Results

  • Not all test results requiring action are abnormal. Your doctor will determine whether further discussion is necessary.

  • If a result is clinically significant, we will contact you to book an appointment.

When Follow-Up is Required

  • We will contact you if your test results require further discussion or follow-up action.

  • You may be recalled after significant referrals (e.g., following a mental health assessment) or the diagnosis of a serious condition (e.g., type 2 diabetes).

  • If a result is unexpected or adverse, we will request that you book an appointment with your doctor.

Confidentiality and Privacy

  • To protect your privacy, we do not disclose test results over the phone.

  • Results will only be discussed in person during an appointment with your doctor.

Recall Process

  • If your doctor requires a follow-up appointment, we will attempt to contact you up to three times at different times of the day.

  • If we cannot reach you, a registered letter will be sent requesting that you book an appointment.

  • All contact attempts will be documented in your medical file.

  • If you do not attend your appointment, your doctor will be informed, and further follow-up may be arranged as necessary.
